How long can you keep your medical insurance after getting laid off?

Question by nellylover: How long can you keep your medical insurance after getting laid off?
I was laid off last week, but the company I worked for canceled my insurance a month before they laid me off. I was under the impression that I get to keep my insurance for a month after they lay me off, was I wrong?

It depends on the company. I got a month of insurance after I was laid off but every company is different.

this place is bot central! anyways, depends if you were employed more than 6 months full time, i think you get insurance 1 month afterward. at least, thats what happened to my friend who got fired. in any case, maybe you an apply for state funded insurance.
