I’m confused about unemployment and tax refunds. I’ve heard the employer pays for unemployment benefits, does this include extended unemployment benefits? Does the one receiving the unemployment benefits have to pay back for the extended benefits?
Lastly, does having unemployment benefits with the tax withheld from the check result in a small or zero refund? How does it work? Thanks!

Tax payers . Employers pay taxes that go to pay unemployment. The extended benefits are above what employers have paid in and our coming from tax payer’s pockets. They don’t pay the benefits pack. They tax your unemployment benefits as income. Yes, I think you will have a smaller refund.

Who do you think? The Taxpayers – we pay for everything in this country (and in others).
