Inappropriate and probably illegal. It gives away your race, sex, and age.

They want to know weather you are female and more likely to have a child, they don’t ask this up front because it’s illegal but it is taken into the equation.
Just so you know I don’t support this and mean no offence.

If you are in the United States this is illegal, and not called for anymore unless you are applying as a model or actor.

They want to know your sex, race, approximate age range, and whether you’re attractive. Of course, in the US, it’s illegal to ask sex, race, and age, so they ask for a photo instead.

Photos used to be very commonly used in resumes before these laws kicked in, and some employers, especially older ones, like to see photos.

Personally, if I didn’t really care if I got the job or not, I’d probably send in a picture of a teddy bear or Big Bird or something like that.

Buddha’s response is right on. Any future employer [other than someone in the entertainment or model field] who requests job applicants to submit a photo on a resume is just out of line and in most States is considered an illegal request even if it’s for I.D. purposes.

    Good luck!
