Question by allardja: What changes were made to unemployment now that Congress voted to extend benefits?
I’ve been on unemployment for a while now and it was just cut off about a month ago. After trying for nearly a year, I’ve been unable to find a job. I was very excited when I heard that Congress voted to extend unemployment benefits, but I haven’t heard anything about it since. Is it final? Does it need more approvals? Where does that extension stand now?

The bill has been passed so there are no more approvals needed.
I don’t know what state you are in and every state is different but as far as I understand, for those that exhaust regular unemployment they will be put onto emergency unemployment Tier I. For those that have exhausted emergency unemployment Tier I, II or III, they will be moved onto the next tier (there are 4 tiers in total).
For those that have exhausted regular and emergency unemployment (at least here in Florida) the gov. & pres. signed a bill on or around July 23 extending the extended benefits.
Hope this helped a little. Good luck on your job search.
Letters should be going out to all that are eligible.
