Doris Rodriguez got laid-off after 23 years with no severance or notice from Spansion — the largest producer of Flash memory cards. Her and her co-workers took pay cuts, went on work furloughs, all to avoid mass lay-offs. But even as the company was giving pay raises to executives, they laid-off 3000 employees, 615 in Sunnyvale, California. Rodriguez and other former Spansion employees have filed a suit against the company in federal court for violation of the WARN Act, which mandates 60 days notices before lay-offs.
