with all this advice about how to interview, how to present yourself, how to power handshake, et’c,,etcetcetc, everytime i’ve stopped listening to this “wonderful” advice and just pounded the pavement, i’ve gotten work. it all breaks down to types. certain types of people get certain jobs, and if you’re not the right type, don’t bother. your resume means nothing. especially now, there is so much competition. either they like you or they don’t.
    that’s what it’s really about.

Every Job I apply for I have to register on some board and spend two hours filling out the same information over and over. All of this information is clearly stated on my resume and in my cover letter. For some reason I have to spend two hours filling out a profile knowing I will never get a response. If your going to ignore my resume would you at least be considerate enough to let me just email it to you without wasting two hours of my time.

Anyone knows if the Parachute people have a support network for support groups? I am now over 2 years without a job, and I have a Masters degree in Information Systems (computers).

I have to find a part time job at a doctors office by September 7th and I have to do so for this Career Prep Program that I am in for High School students. I’m getting so fed up with having to deal with these ppl that say “we’ll call you back” or “we’ll keep your resume on file” or “sorry not at the moment we’re not hiring anyone” that shit makes me so angry. I’m so close to giving up. Job hunting is nearly sucking the life out of me (giving me a headache). How am I suppose to be hopeful?

If you like to do things well and to your high standard, then look for work the same way. This book is a great place to start, and it also presents some ideas that will serve you well in other areas of life.

If you find it interesting but hard to follow, then attend Bolles’ seminar to get it straight from the horse’s mouth. Read the book, attended the seminar — money well-spent. It’s not a quick-fix though.
