Question by Angela: How long does it take to get a second interview and the steps in the hiring process?
I went in for a job interview at Books-A-Million 2 weeks ago, and was told that I was being recommended as a candidate for the job and to expect a call for a second interview. I called a week ago to find out if the position is filled and I was told no and that I’m still a top candidate and that the guy who will be interviewing me was doing paper work. So I thanked her and hung up. I have no intentions on calling back a second time, just so that I won’t present myself as a pest, but I do want this job. What is the length of time to expect a second interview after the first interview? How long is the hiring process afterwards, meaning when can I expect to receive a job offer? This is my first time seeking employement. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you’re doing everything right. Sometimes it’ll be a couple weeks for an interview, especially if they’re not in a rush to fill the position, or they’re hiring you for an upcoming project, or maybe someone you need to meet is out of town for the holidays. I’ve applied for jobs and not got called for the interview until a month later.
Usually the offer will be within a few days of the final interview (it’s a good idea to call of email a couple days after to thank them for meeting you, regardless). It can never hurt to keep looking for jobs, though, until you get an offer.
