Do laid off workers have to start back at less pay than they were making before lay off?

Question by Bryan: do laid off workers have to start back at less pay than they were making before lay off?
i was laid off for 2 weeks and called back.but was told i had to take a 2.00 hr pay cut,is this legal?

    I would call your local labor board, and inquire as to what your options are in this matter. I don’t think they can do that! If you were laid off for more than 2 weeks, maybe – you would have lost seniority. But how do you know that they won’t do this again in the future.

    yes, your option is either to accept the job or refuse it. it is legal to offer u at a lower wage, as sometimes existing employees have been asked for pay cut as exemplified by former GM workers, or no pay day off as exemplified in california govt employees.

    Yes. It is legal and I believe you have to take the job or you can’t collect. You might be able to file additional unemployment to make up for your pay cut though.
