INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Question by Parker: INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I had, in my opinion a successful interview a couple of days ago. They told me that I possessed the attributes they were looking for in an employee, and that since they had other interviews later that week they couldn’t fully commit to me just yet. They said they’ll send me an email at the end of the week regarding the position…

I was planning on sending them an email just to see whats up with the position, but don’t know whats a proper way of doing so…any suggestions, examples?

Hey Parker,

Best thing to do is send a follow up “Thank You” email.

Begin it by thanking them for their time, and express (enthusiastically!) how much you enjoyed meeting with them and how glad you were to learn more about their company and the position. Reiterate (briefly- one or two sentences!) why you feel you are perfect for it (keep it about what you can provide for them, not how great the commute and benefits are for you!), and then say how you are looking forward to hearing from them about what ‘next steps’ will need to be taken.

This does several things: 1, it keeps you fresh in their minds. It’s always best to interview last, because your skills at the forefront, so this will remind them how enthusiastic (Very key!) and great you are. Second, it keeps things positive, shows good follow up on your part, and third, subtly puts the ball in their court. You’ll hear back from them soon.

I am in almost the SAME situation, so thats what I’m going to do :P

Ideally, you SHOULD have had a thank you note/letter already written out (if a note, then in your handwriting, if a letter, then typed) and ready to send TO the person you just met with.
However, since you didnt do that, you MUST send an email ASAP, thanking that person for the interview, expressing your interest in the position of (whatever), highlight a few of your skillsets applicable to the job and then sign off “respectfully”, your name.
Short and sweet. Nothing cutesie or funny, either.
    “Dear Mr. Smith,
It was a pleasure meeting you last wednesday—thank you for interviewing me for the position of X. I realize you have many candidates to choose from, but I believe my skills of x, x and x make me an outstanding choice for this position. “….
    Something along those lines.
