Unemployment Stigma
Just to get this "off my chest"......
The reason I'm still unemployed is due to the fact of my bad credit.
I've heard comments from both sides. And, I don't claim to be a "victim".
I just "obtained" bad credit from my illnesses..... blood clots and ariral fibrilation.
Which did it's damage by putting me behind in paying my (regular and medical) bills.
I just want the chance to make "restitution" by working again, and paying my creditors.

Preach it brother, alot of companies review your credit history and the job has nothing to do with money. Much less you can not determine who is a good worker or not by their credit review. Also I hate this new trend where they look at social networking sites, last time I checked the internet was public so my 1st amendment rights to freedom of speech should apply online as well as offline. I got fired from a job because of my blog once

From what I gather most employers are looking for judgments or liens. Although I wouldn't be surprised if some look at the credit score. I don't think they will be reviewing your credit item by item like a bank would. Do you think an HR Recruiter has the skills to navigate and to understand a credit report? Most people don't.
It is my opinion that if you do a good enough job during an interview and your resume looks polished if they want to hire you they will not let a credit issue stand in the way of bringing you on board. A possibility of a credit check should not be stopping you from applying for a job.

Gary! I am in your boat, but managed to hang onto insurance for now. $$ is going down quickly and my world is full of blood thinners, more medical visits, credit that was impeccable one year ago. Cannot refinance, no help anywhere. We are dipping into the jewelry. Age and attitude are not the best when they ask for 2-5 years experience...that means NOT you but 24-27 years old. It will take companies not so long to understand that the boomers have a solid work ethic and may be the last group to have it. This does not demean others. I am not finished. I have several in my family incl dad who worked til he was 75...he's 92 and prob can outwork many. He's just lazy. I had another relative worked at 55 and finished at 85 (sales rep for natl co). Focus and get them to see you and get hired. Ask for the darn job. Prayer helps. God bless you in this crazy era. read "The age factor" by Ken Gronbach
