I appreciate the comments everyone is posting. It helps to hear some encouragement and support. I am still unemployed and unemployment compensation is due to run out at end of March. Now I am planning to move BACK to Maryland and hope I can find something QUICKLY that will even pay as much as $15,000 less than I was making before so I can at least get back to work. And someone suggested maybe NOT doing the office work that I'm accustomed to. Well, I've been racking my brains to figure out if there is anything else I would be able to qualify for. Factory work isn't an option, no factory work anywhere near where I'd be living. Government job would be ideal but the application process online is so convoluted they are obviously trying to weed out the stupid people and apparently one of them would be me as I cannot get through the applications. Too many KSA's, etc. to deal with.

I'm not too proud to work any kind of physical labor or retail, I've done retail. However, I have foot problems that I believe would prohibit me from being on my feet for a retail position. So I need to stick with what I know--office work.

I've sold Avon part-time for 22 years, but it has been a spare job, I don't want to do it to support me, plus people just aren't ordering luxuries like they did two years ago. My part time business has dwindled away to nothing.

So, I'm praying my unemployment compensation will get extended ONE MORE TIME, to give me a chance to move back to Maryland, and get some kind of job. At least the cost of living is more reasonable there. I can truly understand the mixed blessing of living near a military base, but I am not one of their retiree's that can survive on minimum wage...

Hello Patricia, I’m not sure if you got my previous comment, because I am new to this blog. Regardless, you cannot allow yourself to be intimidated by the government hiring process!!! Once you take the time to get your resume in order the rest is downhill. It's not necessary to write KSAs on top of submitting your resume as long as your resume addresses the KSAs. Plus, the KSAs don't have to be professionally written, so don't feel like you’re not smart enough. I'm not going to sugar coat anything, because the hiring process is totally different than the private sector, but once you spend the time to write your resume you will be good to go. Like I mentioned before my very inexpensive product will assist you with the writing of your resume. It's not necessary for you to have to move to another state especially since you have the base nearby. I am currently working for the federal government as a human resource specialist and I am telling you that the current administration has created hundreds of thousands of jobs to combat the unemployment crisis. These government jobs need to be filled ASAP, but like you mentioned the hiring process is nearly impossible. That's where my product comes into play! I have 20 years of human resource experience with the federal government and I have created a "Toolbox" that will assist you in writing a winning resume for federal employment. My web site is www.federalresumetips.com
